Synopsis
Angelo falls in love with Bel, an ex-prostitute and now popular singer at the Bar. Harry is the guy who picked her off the streets, had a relationship with her that now ended. The story centres on Bell's growing aloofness and rejecting both Harry and Angelo, but an accident on the streets softens her and changes her mind about Angelo. Tania her friend is still hesitant in saying yes to her guy Adam. An incident outside the Bar on the night Bell returns to sing, causes Harry's injury and Tania's turnabout from hardness to forgiveness.
Throughout the play, Jack intervenes with 'pearls of wisdom'. He is constantly chided by the guys at the Bar, though some of the things he has to say are genuinely relevant.

black and blue
1.
My mother, that whore,
she used to beat me
each night of the year
without shame or remorse
She showed her true colours
each night, no regrets
in the day she was nice
smiled to the guests.
Refrain
But I was black and blu
black and blue, every night
through and through,
and I was black and blue
black and blue, every night
through and through
Don’t tell me it’s time
to forgive and forget
time to relent, give your
heart, trust your friends.
There are people out there
nasty as hell, ready to kill x2
you can’t trust anyone
I can tell.
2.
My friends they would say
you must forgive her
stop holding this grudge
harbour all these regrets.
Yet I know in my heart
that the cynics are right
if you stay sharp and cool
you won’t be the fool.
Refrain
Cause I was black and blue
Black and blue, every night
through and through.
and I was black and blue
black and blue, every night
through and through.
Don’t tell me it’s time
to forgive and forget
time to relent, give your
heart, trust your friends.
There are people out there
nasty as hell, ready to kill x2
you can’t trust anyone
I can tell.

drained of love
1.
Drained of love
I am still a goddess.
mercy with me
on the streets each day.
But in the night
When talking’s over,
The lashes of the past
Return to rob my peace.
Refrain
Where is that tender love
that kissed my pain away;
the mercy that embraced me?
Where is that perfect care?
so intimately there,
Like mother’s prayer.
2.
Heaven’s touch
in the beginning
now shut out by the clichés
that I speak.
The tenderness
I once knew closely,
replaced by this
evangelistic fray.
Drained of love
I am still a goddess.
mercy with me
on the streets each day.
But in the night
When talking’s over,
The lashes of the past
Return to rob my peace.
Refrain
Where is that tender love
that kissed my pain away;
the mercy that embraced me?
Where is that perfect care?
so intimately there,
Like mother’s prayer.

Heaven’s touch
in the beginning
now shut out by the clichés
that I speak.
The tenderness
I once knew closely,
replaced by this
evangelistic fray.
these are the days
1.
These are the days
of the cynic the lover
the days of the scoffer the bard
these are the days of
angels and demons
the mixture that celebrates hard
Refrain
Hearts yearn for purity
trapped in the trend of
calling good, evil – day night.
Hearts long for decency
searching for love
trapped in the partying cult.
2.
These are the days of
The searcher, the seeker
The days of the lost and oppressed
These are the days of
Binge drinking parties
The days of those broken
and stressed.
3.
These are the days of
Those secretly hoping
The days of the dreamers of truth
These are the days of
Romance and comedy
The sadness that none can refute.
