The Novel
The Novel, Encounters with Angels – A Journey to the End was inspired at a time of much discussion of the pros and cons, benefits and potential harm to kids of books dealing with witchcraft and magic.
This novel deals with matters of the supernatural in a context of the normal life of kids here in England. It is part real part fantasy to suit the taste who love both. It is multi layered.
There are adventures in the heavenly spaces, special powers given to children, the spontaneous use of prayer and more.
It also takes place in a political context where the life of ordinary people is entwined with much political upheaval mostly in the Middle East. It all culminates in End Time scenarios but it keeps the focus on the ordinary lives of the characters involved.
The short story extracts are just some examples of a few short stories I have written over the years. The first, following Extract 4 of the novel Encounters with Angels, is an adult story. The other 3 are extracts from short stories for children. In writing for children, I have attempted to bring out the more innocent aspects of childhood with some elements of conflict typical of kids’ life.
